this is the check i got from the acsu for taking third place in the spring 2000 programming contest. that makes me "king of the dumb kids": i got two problems right, whereas the first and second place people got 7798425 problems right. does that mean i should put it on my resume anyway?

• my resume yep, here it is. i am looking for a summer job for the summer of 2001. so here's my resume.
• anti-technology i've been reading a lot of "neo-Luddite" books recently. i agree with a lot of it. even though i'm a computer science major. which does present a dilemma there.
• me in the wall street journal / zdnet pretty cool. my five minutes of fame for making a vmware screenshot site (see below).

• developer's credentials i created a sheet of my skills, experience, and qualifications as a software developer for cosource.com.
• vmware for linux screenshots "WOAH! this program was released 3 hours ago, i got it probably two hours ago, and already i'm amazed. five people have been in and out of my room just to see this thing and they all left scared for their lives." -- me, March 15, 1999. the screenshots basically detail my experience with installing windows 95 under vmware, all while running linux and X windows.

  the site also got me me a small bit of fame because i was subsequently slashdotted and then written up in the wall street journal (the article's now on zdnet.)

• mindshark this is my friend ben's company. he sometimes throws me work. like frisbees. thanks ben!
• onshare psst, don't tell anyone, but i wrote onshare's command-line linux client. i'm not sure how many people use it, but it works. which is good.
• y0lk the y0lk archive is back. maybe with better ascii viewing soon.
• vmware over summer '99 i interned at vmware, inc., in palo alto, ca. it was a great experience, and i learned a whole lot. thanks to all those who visited my website looking for screenshots and vmware binaries on march 15, 1999 -- it pretty much got me the job, i guess. plus to lee gomes, the reporter at the wall street journal who put me in the WSJ talking about vmware. in any case, i think i surprised them when i got there because i wasn't just an html monkey: i made real code and actually checked in a few changes that are (hopefully still) in the release product. it was a lot of fun.
• methodfive i interned here for a summer during high school. they do real good design.
• volumeone while i was interning at methodfive, the art director guy (and my "boss" mostly) showed me his nice neato-torpedo web-art site. he still makes it and it's real purty.
• e-zines in case you were wondering "hey, that guy looks like an old telecom legend..." (or not at all -- since i'm not one anyhow), i'm phorce. i used to be an e-zine scenester, back in the day of hoe, rad, dto, y0lk, jonas, cdc, et al. in high school, i used to hang out in #zines and and write/co-head y0lk e-zine with creed i also was a writer and editor for radioactive aardvark dung e-zine. i contributed to dto and hoe too. but then again, those were the days when i was had a lot more time and was a lot wackier -- and angstier. god, was i angsty.

  y0lk finally ended up at the New Museum of Contemporary Art, Soho in an exhibit called alt.youth.media.

• linux i run this open-source operating system and develop on it mostly. i learned how to write kernel modules and device drivers and stuff like that over the summer at vmware, so now i'm the "pimp daddy." or not.
