So yesterday Michael & Bryan came over and we looked at a couple of apartments in Inwood, this 3BR place ($1450) and this 4BR place ($1775). It was cheap -- wait, compared to Williamsburg / Park Slope that's really cheap! -- so the thinking was we could afford to have a spare room for an office or guest room or something.
The apartments were really great, big, with hardwood floors, granite kitchen and marble bathrooms. I don't know why marble bathrooms and crazy granite are such a plus but it was neat. All literally steps from the A train in clunky pre-war places with this charming ancient elevator. So that would be cool. But the apartments we saw will probably go by tomorrow so we should look again later.
Then we scurried around in Inwood Park, the "last natural park" or somesuch in Manhattan. Every time I passed earlier, I thought that the big hills towards the west were in New Jersey or something, I hadn't realize that all 200 acres were part of Manhattan and part of the park I live next to. So apparently there are all sorts of trails to walk around in back there, and spooky stuff.
Afterwards Michael took us down to Cafe Habana in Soho and it was ultra-amazing, the seasoned grilled corn on the cob they had, it was really good. I got the best Cuban sandwich ever ever and Bryan got burrito something something. Then Michael and Bryan talked about how all they ever wanted in life was to be mentioned in my blog, and so that takes care of that.
